Journey RT410 RoadTrip Travel Guitar w/ Solid Spruce Top & Great Gig Bag
Availability: In Stock
The Journey RoadTrip is a fixed-neck travel guitar that’s designed to suit the needs of the mobile acoustic guitarist who demands uncompromising tone in a travel-sized guitar. With an overall length of about 36 inches and a lower bout width of under 14.5 inches, the RoadTrip boasts an expanded Manzer wedge body design and highly scalloped forward-shifted X-bracing. These design elements combine with the relatively longer scale length of 24-1/2” to create a travel guitar with impressive bass response, crystalline highs and solid intonation. The 1-3/4” nut width adds to the feeling of playing a full-sized instrument.
The RoadTrip even comes with Journey's proprietary under-bridge passive triple piezo pickup system. Although it is passive, this system is engineered to go straight into the soundboard. I auditioned this system through an AER Compact 60/3 and was more than a little impressed. It is simply the cleanest and fullest passive system I have encountered. If you are skeptical, prepare to be converted.
In the Manzer wedge design, the body's treble sides are deeper than the bass sides. This creates a larger sound chamber than the typical Orchestra guitar, improving low end response. The Manzer wedge also angles the guitar into your body and places the guitar in a comfortable position for great fretboard access.
At the heart of every guitar's voice is its soundboard, and the RoadTrip uses solid Sitka spruce, long preferred for its responsive tone and balanced voice. There really is no substitute for a solid top...laminates simply can't compete.
The RoadTrip's mahogany neck has a comfortable “C” profile and is capped with a dark rosewood fretboard. The 20 frets are neatly dressed and the the action invites long playing sessions. The neck's satin finish feels great in your hand, and won't get sticky under hot stage lighting. Neck relief is adjustable via a dual action truss rod so it's easy to accommodate climactic changes.
The RoadTrip's travel bag is made with premium ballistic nylon and super-thick high-density foam padding, and a soft velour lining for maximum protection. It’s designed with patented neck compartments to take advantage of space around the guitar neck and it features a massive pleated front pocket and stretch-mesh pocket.
