This Les Paul Custom Pro is a striking beautiful axe, impeccably dressed in an Alpine White finish. Since it is based on the original Les Paul design, the Custom has a pair of Epi's great ProBucker pickups. These PUPs are scatterwound and completely capture the iconic PAF tone. Of course, it has a set mahogany neck, and a rosewood fretboard with block inlays. The top and back of the body, and the headstock have multi-ply bindings. And for good measure, the neck is bound also. Electronics are the time-proven 2 volume and 2 tone controls, with a 3-way toggle switch. What sets this guitar apart is the versatility that these pickups offer. Epi wisely added coil-tapping capability to the ProBuckers, opening up a whole new variety of usable sonic possibilities. Pulling up on a volume pot puts the corresponding pickup into single coil mode. And since they are tappable individually, you have the ability to blend humbucking tones with single coil sounds...very cool.

As mentioned, the Les Paul Custom Pro features Epiphone’s ProBucker pickups, a 4-wire design with coil-splitting inspired by Gibson’s legendary BurstBuckers. ProBucker pickups recreate the sound of the original hand-wound “PAF” humbuckers made by Seth Lover at the Kalamazoo factory in the late ’50s. Epiphone ProBuckers feature all the same ingredients as original PAF and BurstBucker pickups, including Alnico II magnets, Elektrisola magnet wire, 18% nickel silver unit bases and covers, and pole screws, slugs and bobbins manufactured to Gibson’s original specifications. The result is a phenomenal pickup that, over time, will develop the subtle, one-of-a-kind characteristics that you can only get from vintage humbuckers. And best of all, those unique pickup characteristics will give your guitar a unique “voice.” No two vintage Les Pauls sound alike and ProBuckers give the Epiphone Les Paul Custom Pro a one-of-a-kind sound that will get better the more you play.

This LP includes a ProBucker-2 humbucker in the neck position that is slightly overwound for greater definition at higher volumes. The bridge pickup is a ProBucker-3 humbucker, which is also slightly overwound to give your solos a wide tonal range. Each pickup features coil-splitting via a push/pull control at each pickup’s volume knob, which really gives the Les Paul Custom Pro the ability to be any guitar you can imagine. All volume and tone controls feature full-size 500K Ω potentiometers matched with Epiphone’s rugged, all-metal, 3-way toggle pickup selector switch for long-lasting performance.

Tuning stability is excellent thanks to the smooth Grover tuners and Epiphone's LockTone bridge & tailpiece (a major improvement over the 1950's “Loose-O-Matic” design).

This guitar is spotlessly clean and free of any scratches or dings. The frets and fretboard have no player's wear at all. This is no evidence of any repair being needed and it has been through a complete inspection and evaluation at our supplier. It is discounted because of one, very tiny area of finish "bleed" on the bass side of the neck where it joins the body. It can be seen (barely) in the final closeup, but it is really next to nothing.

And even though it played "well enough to sell" when it arrived here at LightSpeed Music, I just completed a full setup on it. The truss rod was checked and adjusted. Then the frets were leveled, crowned and polished. This allowed me to lower the action to better than factory spec. The fretboard was conditioned and the nut slots were lubed and polished. The electronics were checked and then given a protective application of contact cleaner. Everything was snugged up and then the guitar was polished. Finally, it received a fresh set of S.I.T Power Wound strings, gauged .010" to .046" and had the intonation set. It now plays better than the typical "new" guitars you'll see in retail showrooms.

You Can Add A New Gator Case To Your Order!
You can add a new Gator GWE-LPS hard case to your order for only an additional $79.99, and it would be a very wise decision. This is a well-made, wood arch-top case with a durable Tolex exterior and heavy hardware. The plush-lined interior is densely padded and includes an accessory compartment. I'm sorry, but the case is not available separately.
