OK, I'll admit it. I've always been a sucker for the Gibson ES335. Years ago, all my heroes played them. Lee Ritenour, Robben Ford, Larry Carlton...they all made their mark toting Ted McCarty's iconic design. Vince Gill has been seen playing a 335, so country isn't limited to Teles. Heck, even Clapton's famous "Crossroads" solo was played on a 335. The trouble is, you've got to write a check with a comma to own one. Ouch...

Epiphone has done a terrific job with this guitar. Everything you want in the semi-hollow classic is there. Alnico humbuckers conjure up everything from a mighty roar to a sophisticated whisper. The deep cutaway allows an all-access pass to the upper registers. The guitar just feels right when you hold it, balanced, comfortable, and substantial. This guitar plays beautifully and intonates precisely. The Grover tuners are a classy addition. Smooth and tight, just like they're supposed to be.

Ted McCarty invented the semi-hollow guitar over 60 years ago. He was searching for one design that could do anything the player asked of it. It is a testament to his brilliance that it lives on, virtually unchanged, and is still working its magic.

This guitar is completely free of any player's wear and has needed no refurbishing. It is discounted because Epiphone marked as a "2nd" due to a couple of minor cosmetic issues. There is a blemish on the top, about 3" below the bridge and another on the neck at about the 7th fret. Both can be seen in the closeups, but they really are next to nothing.

Included with your guitar is a new Gator GWE-335 hard-shell wood case. The GWE-335 is constructed using ultra-durable plywood that is ready to stand up to years of use...and abuse. The black Tolex exterior covering creates a moisture-resistant, rugged home for your prized guitar and the ergonomic handle offers a comfortable grip, perfectly balancing the weight of your instrument. Inside, a thick plush lining keeps your guitar cushioned against impact and includes a spacious interior accessory compartment to organize your favorite guitar accessories while providing additional neck support. A trio of chrome plated lockable latches secure the case and keep prying eyes at bay. "Street" price for this case alone is $99.99!

This guitar played "well enough to sell" when it arrived here at LightSpeed Music. Still, I have just given this guitar a complete "post factory" setup. First, the truss rod was checked and adjusted. Then the frets were leveled crowned and polished. These first two steps allowed me to lower the bridge and improve the action to better than factory specs, and yet, still keep it completely buzz free. The fretboard was conditioned and the nut slots were lubed and polished. The electronics were tested and then given a protective application of contact cleaner and lube. Everything was snugged up and the guitar was polished. It received a fresh set of S.I.T. Power wound strings gauged .010" to .046" and then the intonation was set. Now, this guitar plays better than 99.9% of new examples of this model and will please even the most demanding professional.
