Fender Paramount Series PM-1 Standard Dreadnought w/ All Solid Mahogany & Spruce
Availability: In Stock
Condition: Manufacturer Refurbished
Fender's Paramount Series PM-1 Standard dreadnought acoustic-electric guitar features rich solid mahogany back and sides paired with a solid Sitka spruce top...a proven tonewood combination. A peek inside this guitar's “neat as a pin” interior reveals carefully scalloped quartersawn “X”-bracing, ensuring sonic perfection with every pick and strum. The fast-playing “C”-shaped mahogany neck is mated to a dark ebony fretboard. Notice the lack of a cost-cutting scarf joint where the neck meets the headstock. This is a subtle feature that is virtually unheard of...especially at this price. The spruce on this specific guitar's top is as tightly grained and razor-straight as any I have ever seen. It also shows ample "silking", an indication of correctly quartersawn lumber.
The U.S.-designed, Asian built Paramount PM-1 Standard is a finely crafted and specially voiced dreadnought instrument designed to bring your artistic vision to life. Being a dreadnought, this guitar loves it when the player “digs in” and allows its voice to open up. Bass is focused and plentiful while the highs remain crystalline and silky. And even though it sounds good now, it will only continue to improve with each passing year. Such is the nature of all solid wood construction...laminates simply don't compete.
The PM-1 Standard offers many legacy design elements of Fender's classic ’60s models, including checkerboard purfling and rosette, pickguard shape and mother-of-pearl "Concert Tone" fretboard inlays. But even with this art deco look, the PM-1 still retains its footing in modern design. An all-new Fender and Fishman-designed PM preamp system was specifically voiced for this specific body shape, ensuring complete tonal control and variation. It is complete with tuner, frequency (bass, master volume and treble) and a feedback busting phase control. Not only does this special engineering offer versatile ways to fine-tune your tone, but also imparts an elegant retro look reminiscent of vintage radio knobs.
Inspired by classic ‘60s Fender acoustic guitar designs, the black-and-white checkerboard purfling offsets the natural beauty of the PM-1 Deluxe's tonewoods. Adding to the "art nouveau" vibe of this guitar are its elegant inlays, constructed from mother of pearl for a truly awe-inspiring look. Based on an early 20th-century design, it's a vintage touch made accessible to the player of today. Additional “Wow” comes from the triple-bound back, neck and headstock with a rosewood headstock overlay.
This is a wonderful guitar and worthy of superior protection. As such, included with your guitar is the correct Fender deluxe hard case.
This specific guitar is 100% free of any players wear. It has no scratches, dings or cosmetic blemishes. Upon arrival at our supplier, their techs inspected, tested and played this guitar and could find nothing to repair.
Although this guitar played “well enough to sell” when it arrived here at LightSpeed Music, I have just given it a full "post factory" setup. The truss rod was checked and adjusted. Then, the frets were leveled, crowned and polished. These first two steps allowed me to lower the saddle a bit and improve the action a bit, while still keeping the guitar free of fret buzz. The fretboard and bridge were conditioned and the nut slots were lubed and polished. The electronics were tested and given a protective application of contact cleaner and lube. Everything was snugged up and then it was polished. Lastly, it was given a fresh set of S.I.T. Phosphor Bronze strings gauged .012" to .054". If you are looking for an all solid wood guitar that plays better than the typical new example you try, this is for you.
